Africa's motherlode of Water: A VERY Old Story Finally Sees the Light of Day

I first heard of this over 10 years ago when Fr. Roger Martineau, a former teaching brother assigned to various corners of Africa before he became a priest mentioned it in several of his homilies at St Luke's Parish. Africa has a motherlode of Fresh water underground, which if brought to the surface could turn the Continent into the breadbasket of the world. Not only would countries where subsistence and starvation are the norm feed itself in abundance, but could alleviate food shortages the world over. Fr. Roger used to say that the price of a few fighter planes or cruise missiles could provide for the equipment needed to bring the water too the surface and turn Africa into a lush paradise of great abundance. So where is the political will for this? many will just say it is too grandiose a project that could never be done, but of all people Colonel Moammar Al Khadafy proved them wrong, as he spent a lot of Libyan oil money to bring up water from the aquifers beneath his country. Could it be that many western food giants like Monsanto might just like the food supply just the way it is? Scarce enough that prices remain high enough that their profits remain large with minimal effort? is it that they don't want the competition from the Africans? Is that why so few know about the great resources that lie beneath the supposedly dead soil of Africa? This information needs to go viral, as it is the best way I can think of to alleviate the suffering of almost 1/5 of the world's population, and destroy once and for all the myth or should i say lie, that population control advocates have been slinging for the last 100 years or so, that the earth cannot feed its population.
